FremantleMedia UK appoints Danny Carvalho Creative Director, FremantleMedia UK Unscripted

FremantleMedia UK (FMUK) has today announced the appointment of Danny Carvalho to the role of Creative Director, FremantleMedia UK Unscripted.  Reporting into new CEO FremantleMedia UK Unscripted, Liam Humphreys, Danny will focus on developing the UK development slate into FremantleMedia globally and on championing international pipeline shows being developed and pitched into the UK market.

Danny joins from Channel 4 where he was Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment, responsible for commissioning forthcoming series Escape and Old People’s Home for Four Year Olds.

Liam Humphreys said: “Danny is joining us at FMUK to help create big, bold ideas for the UK and beyond, to further harness the amazing talent we have here, both on screen and off, and to encourage even more ambitious cross-genre development. He is a huge creative talent, and I look forward to working together to build on the already-substantial success of Boundless, Talkback and Thames and celebrating some exciting new wins along the way.”

Danny Carvalho added:  “My time at Channel 4 has been an amazing experience – it’s been an utter privilege working with such incredibly talented people every day. But the chance to get back into the indie world at FMUK, working in a cross-genre position with a focus both locally and globally was just too good to refuse.”

Prior to joining Channel 4 in 2014, Danny was Head of Development at Pulse Films and Executive Producer at ITV Studios, where he was responsible for creating entertainment and factual formats including ITV’s The Chase and Sky Living’s Four Weddings.

Liam Humphreys has joined FMUK this month (May) as CEO, FMUK Unscripted for labels Boundless, Talkback and Thames. FMUK label MDs Hannah Wyatt (Boundless), Leon Wilson (Talkback) and Richard Holloway (Thames) report directly into Liam Humphreys. Drama label Euston Films (MD Kate Harwood) and scripted comedy label Retort (MD Jon Rolph) report directly to FremantleMedia Group CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz.
