Lowdown (3 episodes)
Lisa (Lisa Hammond) and Rachael (Rachael Spence) are friends. Ordinary friends. There’s the odd bit of fraud, thieving, blagging and their somewhat unusual moral outlook but things jog along. Until, that is, Lisa begins to question her sex-friend relationship with a man who likes to treat her like a child, Rachael loses her criminal mojo, and they both wonder if their lives are about to change forever.
A bit about Blaps
From comedy virgins to established comedy writers and performers, anyone can have their five minutes of fun trying out fresh new ideas that may one day make it to a series commission. Blaps are a successful platform for supporting new talent with bold original comedy ideas and is something we will continue to grow. 7 series have now been commissioned from Blaps, with 4 new programmes launching from them next year including Jamie Demetriou’s Stath (w/t), Lee & Dean from exciting new comedy talents Mark O’Sullivan and Miles Chapman and Marc Wootton’s High and Dry. Other series originating from Blaps include the BAFTA-winning Chewing Gum by Michaela Coel, hidden camera prank show Bad Robots and Roisin Conaty’s Gameface. Other Blaps alumni (‘Blapees’?) include Claudia Doherty, Nick Helm, Sam Simmons, David Earl and many more.
Fiona McDermott, Head of Channel 4 Comedy, said: “I’m really thrilled to be announcing this bumper crop of Blaps, a fantastic range of ambitious, complex and original comedy from a real diversity of talent. We’re so proud that 7 series to date have started life on this platform, it proves that from small things award winning series can grow.”
